special delivery

Four and a half more weeks of school.  Twenty-two more days, to be exact, until my summer break starts. Should I count the hours? I might be a just little bit ready for it to come.  I have big, big plans for the summer and I need some time to get them done. Stephanie is sick and tired of waking up at the crack of dawn.  Needless to say, she is more than anxious for summer break and sleeping in until I make her get up unnecessarily at 10 a.m. Heather is just wants more time to play outside.

To help ease the pain, the second grade teachers are hosting a two-week career extravaganza. This spells m.a.n.y. a.s.s.e.m.b.l.i.e.s! We invited the parents of our students to come share their careers with the second graders. Not so many responded, so we supplemented with some of our own peeps.

Today, Greg was our guest speaker. He was awesome! He prepared an outline of what he planned to talk about. He also prepared a timeline to make sure everything fit in his time slot. He captivated the kids. They were mostly all attentive, which is a feat of skills itself the last hour of the day sometimes. They remembered their manners and asked only appropriate questions ~ you just never know what they will ask!

To end his talk, the kids participated in a demonstration of the hub & spoke delivery system and they all got a letter from the principal addressed to and delivered to them.

We've invited him to speak again next year!

These pictures have nothing to do with the topic of this post. I forgot to take pictures of Greg's presentation, but thought these were fun. This one? Of Stephanie driving? Let's just say the future scares the snot out of me!

I might need a valium!

I wouldn't believe Stephanie (sweet Stephanie) was a bad driver, but Heather hanging off the back of the car pretty much says it all. Perhaps her father should give her some driving lessons!@#$%^&*????? Ya think?
